Episode 11: Create a story in Scratch

Ages: 8-13, no experience necessary

Work with Molly, a rock star Elementary School teacher to create a story of your own.  

This Episode is for beginners with little or no programming experience. It is part of a series of Episodes offered on Mondays for children (boys and girls) in Elementary school grades 3-5 and others with no programming experience. Experienced Scratch programmers are also welcome as they will learn new story telling and planning skills.

This episode introduces Scratch, you can join with any computer that has a browser and internet access. On your Boolean Box, click the Scratch the Cat icon. On other computers, go to https://scratch.mit.edu/

What you need to participate:

Access to a Boolean Box or a Raspberry Pi with Scratch installed or any Windows or Mac computer with access to the internet.

Episode 12: Python Projects

Advanced Skill Level

April 8, 3-4 PM Eastern Time

Ages: 10-18, some programming experience helpful

Each week we build a new project in Python. In the course of building each project learn how to code in Python one of the most popular programming languages. In this episode we will learn how to use loops and conditionals while we program a turtle's movement.

What you need to participate:

A Boolean Box or a Raspberry Pi or any Windows or Mac computer with python installed.  See guidance for installing Python 3 on Mac or Windows below.

Episode 13: Scratch Game Building

Intermediate Skill Level

In this episode, we will work together to create a game in Scratch. We will start by covering the basics, so even a beginner can complete this project.

Episode 14: Create a story in Scratch Part II

Beginner Skill Level

Ages: 8-13, No Experience necessary

Work with Molly, an experienced Elementary School teacher, to create a Scratch story of your own.  This Episode is for beginners with little or no programming experience.  In this episode we will extend our story building.  Working together, we will explore ways to all interaction to the story, create a start and end to our story so it has a great beginning, middle, and end.

What you need to participate:

Access to a Boolean Box or a Raspberry Pi with Scratch installed or any Windows or Mac computer with access to the internet.
